Michigan Columbian Squires - April Update

Michigan Circles going above and beyond!

Fundraiser Dinners

Picture

On May 12th, 2013, Copper Country, Circle #5288 from the Upper Peninsula will be holding a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation!  As many of you may know, and for anyone who doesn't know, May 12th is Mother’s Day. "We intend that since the fundraiser will be held on Mother’s Day, it will not only be another fundraiser but an event in which husbands will take their wives out for a nice dinner with fellow parishioners and also support two great organizations" said Chief Counselor John Knight of Circle #5288! I could not have said it better myself. "I am very glad that local Circles are coming up with such great ideas and truly inspiring us all with service events such as the Make-A-Wish Mother’s Day event" said State Chief Squire Dennis Schneider! What makes the fundraiser even better is that ALL proceeds from the event will be donated directly to the Foundation. Let us all pray for the success of this event and other like it in the upcoming future!

                                                                                                                          About Make-A-Wish
Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded in 1980 after a little boy named Chris Greicius realized his heartfelt wish to become a police officer. Since its humble beginnings, the organization has blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon, reaching more than 250,000 children around the world.

Although it has become one of the world's most well-known charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has maintained the grassroots fulfillment of its mission.

A network of nearly 25,000 volunteers enable the Make-A-Wish Foundation to serve children with life-threatening medical conditions. Volunteers serve as wish granters, fundraisers, special events assistants and in numerous other capacities.

As the Foundation continues to mature, its mission will remain steadfast. Wish children of the past, present and future will have an opportunity to share the power of a wish®.

Squires Attend 35th Annual Right to Life Dinner

Picture

It has become apparent that the Colombian Squires are very strong supporters of life! On April 11, 9 squires including 5 State Board members as well as State Regional Squires Director Bill Corey had the honor to attend the 35th annual Right to Life Dinner hosted at the Burton Manor in Livonia.

This year the event was very special for the Squires after accomplishing the State wide goal to purchase an ultrasound machine! The accomplishment was a very hot topic for the night proving to all in attendance that great Pro-Life goals are being accomplished and that the future for the Knights of Columbus and the fight for life are looking bright.
